| Prakriti is the vedantic cosmic mother. All that is manifest in physical form is part of her body and therefore an instrument of the creative force. There are three interwoven threads - red, black and white, which represent the three gunas or energies of creation: Rajas - action, Tamas - destruction, and Sattva - balance and sustenance and these are her symbol.
